How to Make an AI Rap Video From One Photo

Oct 25, 2026RapGlow Team

How to make an AI rap video from one photo: pick a trend, choose the right picture, generate a vertical clip with the beat and post it. Tips, costs, rules.

You have seen them on your feed: someone who has never held a mic, dropping bars in a red-lit lobby or in the middle of a street cypher, crowd going off behind them. Most of those clips were not filmed. They were made from a single photo with an AI rap video generator.

This guide walks through how to make one yourself, what makes the result look real, and what to know before you post it. If you are still choosing a tool, start with our roundup of the best AI music video generators.

What an AI rap video actually is

An AI rap video takes an existing rap scene, the performer, the moves, the camera and the beat, and swaps the rapper for the person in your photo. Your face, hair and outfit come from the picture. The performance, the setting and the sound come from the scene.

That is different from two things people often mix up with it:

  • A talking-photo app animates a portrait so the mouth moves. It doesn't put you in a scene, and the body never moves.
  • A text-to-video model invents a whole clip from a prompt. You get a new scene every time, and keeping your face consistent takes a lot of retries.

A template-based rap video sits in between: the scene is fixed and already works, so the only thing that changes is who is rapping.

What you need

  • One clear photo of yourself, or two photos if you want a duo. More on picking the right one below.
  • A template, meaning the rap scene you want to star in.
  • A few minutes. On RapGlow a video takes 2 to 4 minutes to render.

You don't need a camera, a beat, lyrics, an editing app or any rap skills.

Step 1: Pick a trend

Start from what is moving right now. Rap trends on TikTok, Reels and Shorts come in waves: a sound and a setting take off for a few weeks, then fade. A video that rides a live trend gets far more reach than one that arrives late.

On RapGlow every template is its own trend scene, and all of them are on the Viral Raps page:

  • Bulin 47 AI: a red-lit lobby, a dembow beat and a crowd on the stairs.
  • Rap Cypher: your turn in the middle of a street cypher at night.
  • Gym Hype Rap: a hype verse between the dumbbell racks.
  • Hotel Lobby AI: a rap duo in an orange studio, made from two photos.

Each template page shows example videos, so you can see exactly what you will get before you spend anything.

Step 2: Choose the right photo

The photo decides most of the quality. The AI can only copy what it can see, so:

  • Face the camera. A straight-on or slightly angled face works best. Profiles and heads turned away give the AI too little to work with.
  • Use good, even light. Daylight from a window is ideal. Harsh shadows, backlight and heavy filters all show up in the video.
  • Keep the face clear. No sunglasses, masks, hands or hair across the eyes.
  • One person per photo. Group shots confuse which face to use. For a duo template, upload one photo per performer.
  • Sharp, not tiny. A recent phone photo is plenty. Screenshots of screenshots are not.

Upper-body photos usually give the best result, because the outfit carries into the video too.

Step 3: Generate the video

On the template page, upload your photo and pick a resolution:

  • 480p for 10 credits, good for checking how a photo works.
  • 720p HD for 25 credits, for the version you post.

A sensible routine is to try a new photo at 480p first, then make the keeper in HD. If a render fails, the credits come back automatically.

While it renders you can leave the page. The finished video appears in My creations and you get an email when it is ready.

Step 4: Post it

What you get is a vertical 9:16 MP4 with the template's beat and verse already lined up, sized for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. A few things help it travel:

  • Post while the trend is live. A day can matter.
  • Name the trend in your caption so people searching for it find your clip.
  • Hook the first second. The scene starts strong, so don't add a slow intro in front of it.
  • Make a few. Different photos, different outfits, a duo with a friend. Keep the one that lands.

Rules worth knowing before you start

AI makes it easy to put anyone in a video, which is exactly why a few rules matter:

  • Only use photos of yourself or of adults who said yes. On RapGlow you confirm this for every video.
  • No celebrities, public figures or minors, and no brand logos in the photo. These aren't allowed.
  • The templates are originals. Our scenes, performers and beats are made with AI for the site. They follow online trends, but they are not copies of anyone's music video and are not affiliated with any artist.

Your photo is deleted within 72 hours and is never used to train AI models.

Can I use my own lyrics?

Not in the video yet: each template comes with its own verse, synced to the performance. If you want your own words, write them with the free rap lyrics generator and turn them into a rap song with AI vocals. We cover that in How to Make a Rap Song With AI.

How much it costs

There is no subscription. Credits come in one-time packs that never expire, starting at $9.90 for 10 credits, which is one 480p video. Larger packs bring the price per video down. See Pricing for the current packs.

Quick recap

  1. Pick a trend on Viral Raps.
  2. Upload one sharp, front-facing photo in good light.
  3. Generate at 480p to test, then 720p HD to post.
  4. Post while the trend is live, with the trend in your caption.

That is the whole process: one photo, a few minutes, and you are the one on the mic.
